Tim McQuay Wins Southwest Reining Horse Association Futurity Reserve Title

It was a special kind of déjà vu for All Time Leading Reiner, Tim McQuay, during the Southwest Reining Horse Association Futurity October 28-30.

McQuay rode Hollywood Downtown to a score of 221.5, good for the Southwest Reining Horse Futurity Reserve Championship.  Just a year ago, he rode that gelding’s full sister, Dun It In Tinseltown, to the same finish.

Both horses are by $3 Million Sire Hollywood Dun It and out of National Reining Breeders Classic Champion Miss Tinseltown, and both are owned by David Silva of Tolland, Connecticut.

Hollywood Downtown is Oklahoma City bound for the National Reining Horse Association Futurity. “I showed him in August at the Tulsa Futurity, but he’s gotten more broke since then and I was able to stand on him pretty hard,” said McQuay, shortly after the Ardmore event. He continued, “He was strong everywhere – good circles, great turn-arounds and a lot of stop.”

McQuay also scored 220.5 on another entry, Sorcerers Apprentice, good for a three-way tie for 3rd in the Futurity. “He’s been fun. I enjoy training him,” said McQuay of the sorrel stallion. “Between both horses, I think we have a shot at doing well at the big futurity!” Sorcerers Apprentice, by Gunner and out of GS Anniegityergun, is owned by Tim and Colleen McQuay.

At the NRHA Futurity, McQuay will also be riding Dillon Dunit Again (Hollywood Dun It X Rosalie Dillon) owned by Mike Simmons, MMCO Corporation. Other McQuay Stables entries include Stephano Calcagnini riding Lil Ruf N It and Twice The Scamp, Jared LeClair on Chics Marcie and Andrea Castrucci on Gay Bar Dunnit. In the Non Pro Futurity, Mandy McCutcheon will be showing Dun It Some Moore and A Dozen Dunits.
